The symphony wouldn’t hire a conductor who’s never played a musical instrument. And you shouldn’t elect a District Attorney who’s never handled a criminal case. Criminals Roaming Our Streets This is an important choice at a very important time. Right now, we have thousands of active criminal arrest warrants for people roaming our streets. The police arrested them, booked them into jail, and the District Attorney’s Office charged them. Released To Commit More Crimes They were released on low bail and failed to return. They are loose on our streets free to commit more crimes. I have a plan to ensure these folks are brought to justice. Thirty Years’ Experience I’ve spent 30 years in the criminal justice system, first as a prosecutor and then as a Criminal Court Judge. I know the system front to back. My opponent has never handled a criminal case. He’s simply not qualified to do the job. Every Tool Must be Used Border security doesn’t stop at the border – or even 350 miles from the border. Illegal immigrants bring their human trafficking and drug trade to the cities. I will ensure that we use every tool we have to arrest, charge, detain, and convict these criminals preying upon our community. Election Integrity Task Force Needed Election integrity and the safety and security of the ballot box is a cornerstone of a functioning democracy. I will create an Election Integrity Task Force in the District Attorney’s Office to ensure the rules are followed, and I pledge to prosecute those seeking to cheat in our election process. My opponent voted to reduce the penalty for illegal voting from a felony to a misdemeanor. Endorsed by the Fort Worth Police Officers Association I know and respect our police. The Fort Worth Police Officers Association has endorsed me. The police are a valued partner; they deserve our respect and admiration for the sacrifices they make. I will fight any effort to defund the police. Qualified Leader Needed The District Attorney’s Office constitutes one of the largest law firms in the county. The attorneys who work in the office expect a leader who understands what they do, can guide and direct the organization, give advice, and inspire confidence. I believe I am that leader. Stop George Soros Tarrant County is the largest Republican County in America. That’s why the Democrats and George Soros have a target on our back. They will fight to turn Tarrant County blue. I have the background, qualifications, and experience to be the kind of District Attorney who won’t let that happen. Vote For Your Safety I have the vision to do what's necessary to keep Tarrant County safe, the passion to get to work right away and get it done, and the background, qualifications, and experience to deliver. The Runoff is Here. Please Vote My record as a prosecutor and Criminal Court Judge prove that I am a Conservative and have the experience required to serve as your next District Attorney. My name is Phil Sorrells, and I humbly ask for your vote in the Republican Primary Runoff of May 24th. Phil Sorrells3 May 2022 www.TerryLowry.com www.TerryLowry.com May 2022 4 Bill Waybourn Endorses Matt Krause GUEST EDITORIAL By Bill Waybourn The Tarrant County justice system starts a new chapter following District Attorney Sharen Wilson’s decision not to seek re-election. Sharen brought innovation, efficiency, and grit to Tarrant County. DA Wilson will be hard to replace, but I am confident that Representative Matt Krause is the candidate for the job. Therefore, he will have my vote in the Republican Primary Runoff on May 24th. Character, Integrity, and a Fighting Spirit I have known Matt Krause for over a decade. He is the same person I met all those years ago. He’s a man of tremendous character and unwavering integrity. These are important characteristics for a District Attorney, as you need both to lead the largest law firm in Tarrant County and fight injustice within our community. As Matt Krause and I worked closely during his tenure in the House of Representatives, I have seen Matt demonstrate this type of required leadership and fighting spirit. Consistent Conservative Leadership Matt Krause has been a leader for the Conservative movement in Austin and has a proven Conservative record that has remained consistent since being elected in 2012. Moreover, it is Matt’s record of supporting law enforcement and upholding law and order that makes me believe he is the best District Attorney candidate for Tarrant County. Back the Blue Matt Krause has been outspoken in his support of law enforcement, even years prior to the Left’s recent attempt to defund the police. He has taken necessary action to ensure my brothers and sisters in blue have the resources needed to protect their community. Because the Sheriff ’s Office and the District Attorney’s office work together to ensure public safety, it is crucial to have a DA that can be trusted to support law enforcement, like Matt’s record indicates. Keeping Our County Safe Additionally, Matt Krause’s legislative record with the rule of law proves he is tough on crime and will make sure his Assistant District Attorneys are equipped with the authority to keep our county safe. In the last Legislative Session, Krause helped keep violent criminals behind bars by vetting and passing bail reform. Krause supported legislation that increased criminal penalties to those guilty of obstructing emergency vehicles, as well as those responsible for the growing threat of fentanyl manufacturing and distribution. Voting Record But perhaps more important of all, Matt Krause was a staunch advocate for the victims of the inhumane act of human trafficking, an issue that has threatened Tarrant County. Matt knows what it takes to keep law and order in Tarrant County, and his voting record proves it. Please Consider My Friend Thank you for the opportunity to explain my support of Matt Krause for District Attorney. It is an important race for Tarrant County citizens. With Matt, I know we will have a District Attorney that will build off of Sharen’s great work, continuing to protect the people of Tarrant County. We know Democrats will be well-funded in November. Therefore, we must put forth a Republican nominee with a proven Conservative record. Lowe has publicly condemned the life-saving Texas Heartbeat Act and the strategy that enabled this historic law to take effect, despite his opposition to abortion. He then actively mischaracterizes Stephanie Klick, who was vital in guiding the law to its passage. Referring to the Texas Heartbeat Act, the boldest anti- abortion bill in the United States to take effect since Roe v. Wade, Lowe stated: “The recent pro-life bills passed by our State Legislature have not ended abortion, and most likely will not. It is far past the time for Texans to act.” Since this law took effect on September 1, 2021, it has saved the lives of approximately 20,000 babies – roughly 100 per day. Lowe Has No Clue What it Takes While there is still work to be done to save every preborn child from abortion from the moment of fertilization, to assert that the Texas Heartbeat Act is not stopping abortions or saving lives is blatantly false. Not only has Lowe ambiguously undersold the life-saving value of the Texas Heartbeat Act, he has also publicly undercut the abortions being stopped and lives being saved by the law. Lowe pledged he is “willing to stand on the House floor and vote no to any Pro-Life bill.” He claims the only thing we need to do is ignore Roe v. Wade, a strategy he claims will end abortion. Lowe’s prideful unwillingness to vote for any bill that will immediately save lives from abortion while attacking Roe v. Wade is dangerous for preborn Texans. Lowe also misrepresented incumbent Stephanie Klick. Even before she was elected to the Texas House, Klick fought to protect vulnerable patients in Texas hospitals. Since her election to the Texas House, she has repeatedly fought to protect preborn children and their mothers from abortion. Stephanie Klick Continuously Stands Strong for Babies In 2017, Klick passed the Dismemberment Abortion Ban, a law that prohibits the barbaric and inhumane abortion method which ends the lives of preborn children by removing their limbs while their hearts are still beating. As chair of the House Public Health Committee last session, Klick passed every Pro-Life priority bill out of her committee, including the Texas Heartbeat Act, and passed a bill TWICE that would have abolished abortion — the first time any House committee chair has ever done so. Disagreement is normal and expected in politics. When considering the crucial issue of saving inno- cent human lives, disagreeing over the best strategy to achieve this goal the fastest is acceptable and understand- able. But that is not what David Lowe is doing. He poses as the best candidate on life issues while concurrently condemning a law that is actively saving thousands of preborn children in Texas from abortion and vowing to thwart similar laws in the future. Vote for Stephanie Klick Texas Right to Life is disappointed in those who share some of our values and goals but are slandering Stephanie Klick, who fearlessly and consistently defends the rights of the most vulnerable.
