Under the misguided leadership of County Judge Lina Hidalgo, the progressive radicals on Commissioners Court are quite literally destroying our criminal justice system, creating a revolving-door at the courthouse coupled with defunding our law enforcement. Houston, the “Energy Capital of the World” and the “Space City,” can now add the moniker of “Murder Capital U.S.A.” to the list. Under Hidalgo’s leadership, Houston’s homicide rate is the highest in 30 years, with more homicides than Los Angeles, a city of nearly twice as many people. This Is Not OK Stories told by the victims will break your heart. Just this summer, a father driving his two sons home from an Astros game had his 17-year-old son shot in the head and killed by a violent criminal (and prior felon). The accused simply posted bond and is now out walking our streets. The Hidalgo Plan to Reduce Crime What is Lina Hidalgo and Commissioners Court’s plan to reduce crime? Plant more trees, add some streetlights, build sidewalks, and clean up vacant lots. And spend $50 million doing this. Where is more money for law enforcement officers and prosecutors? Real Action Needed Real Leadership Needed While Hidalgo uses her position to gain the national spot- light, Harris County suffers. Enough is enough. It’s time to stand up for Harris County. We cannot sit back and watch Houston become the next Chicago. Galleria parking areas have at times been patrolled by armed gangs reminiscent of Taliban controlled Afghanistan. I should know, having served in Afghanistan. Homeless Camps are Everywhere The homeless camps that once merely rimmed downtown have stretched out through the bayous and into neighbor- hoods throughout the County. Violent crime is heavily concentrated among a small group of persistent offenders with ~5% of offenders committing ~50% of the violent crime. To deal with this problem, we must elect local leaders who will vigorously pursue these violent offenders. Who is Alexandra del Moral Mealer My name is Alexandra del Moral Mealer and I am uniquely qualified to hold Judge Lina Hidalgo accountable for her failed policies. West Point Grad – Bomb Disposal Specialist As a West Point graduate and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Specialist (Army bomb squad) who served in Afghanistan, I’ve spent years honing my leadership and emergency management skills, delivering results under pressure. Under my leadership, Harris County can again focus on issues that matter, like safe streets, providing essential services, and mitigating damage from natural disasters. A Fight We All Must Win As a Harvard JD/MBA and oil & gas finance professional, I know how to build an eff icient and effective budget, allocate resources, and improve transparency. I am the person that is needed for this fight—and make no mistake, it will be a fight to wrestle control back from the progressive radicals. I am up to the task. Alexandra Mealer3 May 2022 www.TerryLowry.com www.TerryLowry.com May 2022 4 Join our Fight for Faith, Family, Freedom, and Free Markets GUEST EDITORIAL By Shelly Barineau At six days old, weighing only 5.5 pounds, God gently placed me into the arms of the world’s most loving parents, who adopted me and in tur n brought me home to the world’s most amazing place – HD 133! I love Texas – this is my home! Life’s Choices: Grounded in Faith of God My life’s choices are grounded in my faith in God. I have a heart to serve and lead in my community with passion and tenacity. This belief governs my choices and motivates me to meet the challenges in our community in both our busi- ness and volunteer work. Texas is Suffering Unfortunately, our sacred home, Texas, is suffering because of the bad ideas of the radical left who plan to destroy our traditions. • Crime is rising • Schools are infiltrated with anti-American CRT • Illegal immigration is out of control • Human traffickers and drugs are pouring across our border • Intellectual dishonesty is driving energy policy and threatening Texas’ oil and gas industry • Our Harris County elections lack integrity • The federal government continues to usurp our freedoms with unwarranted control, lockdowns, and mandates. Enough is Enough. No More Well, I say NO MORE! It is time to elect fighters that have the grit to go to Austin and refuse to compromise our conservative values! Newt, my husband of 30 years, and I are standing up to protect and defend our God-granted rights. We will fight to keep peace and prosperity in our west Houston community for future generations. Weather the Storm with True Grit During, the last 5 years, as small operating business owners, we have been put to the test. Working relentlessly over many long hours, we have had to navigate the flood, the pandemic, the freeze, stay-at-home orders, mandates, supply chain interruption, rising taxes, and crippling inflation! Like the voters in HD 133, our business has weathered the storms with true grit, hard work, heart, and Texas style determination. Elect a Problem Solver We must elect Constitutional Conservative leaders who will push back against the harmful policies coming from Washington and Harris County! As a successful business- woman and longtime Cconservative grassroots advocate and an unrelenting proven problem solver, I will ask questions and forge effective solutions for issues facing everyday Texans. I am NOT a politician, but a Problem Solver who voters can trust to do the right thing! Bureaucratic Lawyer Not the Answer This is not the time for a business-as-usual bureaucratic lawyer who wants to be a legislator. To many politians have their tentacles deep into the Austin Swamp. I will stand up with independence and courage for what’s right! To have a change, we must make a change! Time for a New Voice This is a time for a Native Texan with a New Voice! That’s why, in the Primary, we were first in the vote count with the broadest base of support districtwide in HD 133. Voters want an advocate for defending the American Dream of equality of opportunity, not equality of outcome which leads to socialism and despair. I will be a vibrant leader who can articulate the Republican message of Faith, Family, Freedom, and Free Markets. It's Time to Save Texas - NOW Quite Simply, the time to save Texas is NOW! Let’s stand and defend Texas together! My name is Shelly Barineau. I humbled ask for your vote. Shelly Barineau5 May 2022 www.TerryLowry.com www.TerryLowry.com May 2022 6 Morman: Ethics, Real Transparency Meaningless to Commissioner Court Liberals GUEST EDITORIAL By Jack Morman The Democrat majority on Harris County Commissioners Court have opposed state laws to protect the unborn, pushed an ultra-liberal socialist agenda, aban- doned crime victims, defunded police, and squandered taxpayer resources. The three liberal members of Commissioners Court – County Judge Lina Hidalgo, Precinct 1 Commissioner Rodney Ellis, and Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia – have also repeatedly unmasked themselves as hypocrites capable of deception, cor ruption, desperation, and favoritism. $11 Million Contract Scandal The recent scandal involving an $11 million contract for “COVID outreach” granted to a Democratic operative who worked for Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Garcia when he made his failed run for Houston mayor is a perfect example. The investigation has revealed an effort to allegedly rig a contract for this operative with staffers for Hidalgo deeply mired in undermining a more qualified bidder. The inquiry is continuing. Voters should not be shocked if there are more horrible revelations. Democrates Show True Identity This is a classic example of liberals showing their true identities. They have long criticized previous Commissioners Court led by Republicans. They have warped and lied about county history, put stooges in positions of power to better fleece taxpayers, and, when confronted with misdeeds, evaded tough questions, and hidden behind lawyers. They do all this while calling for what they say is a more transparent government. They do that while Hidalgo sidesteps questions about the COVID contract. At the same time, the liberals avoid efforts to tell the public more about the Democratic judges who have turned the courthouse into a revolving door for violent criminals. Broken Promises Garcia has tried to break promises made to neighbor- hoods on voter-approved flood control projects. All the Democrats have broken faith with law enforcement officers on the frontlines of fighting rising crime. The Democratic district attorney has even called them out for defunding law enforcement. This is what makes the May 24th Republican Runoff so vital. Please get out and vote. Early Voting is from May 16th to May 20th, and this is the last stop as we get ready to unseat Hidalgo and Garcia in the November General Election. We must get our best team on the field and ready to march into the fall. Respectfully, in my race, I am the most qualified candi- date and can get to work on DAY ONE to fix the damage this Democratic majority has done to our county. Your Vote Is Important Get out and vote in the runoff, please. If we don’t act, we leave our futures in the hands of hypocrites who care more about their liberal agendas than families. Jack Morman served as the Republican Harris County Precinct 2 Commissioner for two terms and is running to reclaim his seat on Commissioners Court in 2022. He is endorsed in the Runoff Election by Terry Lowry and the Link Letter and is the choice of law enforcement.
